Are you self-aware?

Updated: Oct 12, 2023

The first step to discovering your purpose and therefore developing a life you love, starts with becoming self aware. Do you get mad and storm off when something doesn't go your way? Do you command others to do things without doing it yourself? How about your emotions, do you push them down and never express them or do you express them too much? How open-minded are you regarding topics that you don't agree with? When you do have disagreements, do you argue or try to gain an understanding of the other point of view? What are your strengths? Weaknesses? Have you ever recognized bad habits and tried to quit them, and if you did why didn't you succeed at breaking that habit; what could you do differently? How about the way others see you and how impactful your opinions and actions are? Are you satisfied with your career? If not, why? Are you in debt, and how are you going to get out of debt; what is your plan? Do you feel like you never have enough time in the day; what does your time management look like? Are you spending hours scrolling through social media or actually putting your time towards what you need to get done? And lastly, my personal favorite and one that I have at the top of my list: what are your goals? What's stopping you to reach them? You know how to get there, why aren't you putting in what it takes? Or, the opposite, you don't know how to get there, so why don't you ask around and find a mentor so they can help guide you?

Do you feel called out? Like we are face to face and you feel like I just sent you into a mid-life crisis? Take it easy, and one step at a time.

Self-Awareness is something that will make you feel undoubtably discouraged, but also what will make you grateful in the end once you have addressed whatever issue you may be running into. The biggest takeaway from that is you cannot keep attempting the same resolution to the same problem; that is the definition of insanity. Attempt new solutions, think outside of the box, reassess the issue and try again.. and keep trying and continue evaluating as you make new progress.

Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. - Carl Jung

In other words, here's your alarm and it is time to wake the hell up.
