Sunshine, somewhere?

At my first public book signing the other day, I was telling one of the guests about my poem, "Bloom." We went on in a conversation, and she got me to start thinking,
here's what she asked me:
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be stuck in the same exact spot every single day?"
And my answer to that is an absolute, hell no, no ma'am, respectfully. I try to make it a point not to be stuck somewhere, anywhere, ever. Constantly seeking growth and multiple aspects of my life. But what if we were? What if we were stuck in the same, exact, spot, every single day?
If we were to be stuck in the same spot every day, I think we would have days where we absolutely hate it and days where it doesn't seem too bad. Days where it's pouring down on us, and we can't get out of it. Days where the shadows are excessively cold. Days where we even may be covered in dog shit and then stepped on. But also, days where the sun is so warm, and days that a new flower blooms next to us, and even a day that we are the flower that gets picked and that person that picked us allows us to see the world differently the first time.
So remember, even if you feel stuck in the same spot and everything seems to be covered in shit, another day will come when things are clean from the rain, and the sun is warm, and everything is perfect.
And also, remember to show the people you picked a different and better perspective of the world because you may be the one thing that got them out of feeling stuck.
And lastly, shadows can't be cast without sunshine. So in those moments, remember to find the sunshine so you have a better chance of getting out of the shadows.
