"why did you get that tattooed on your side?"
the idea of growth is something that's pretty important to me, it's something that has helped me get through even the worst of storms.
think about it. when you think of growth do you think of a newborn turning into an adult, your bank account flourishing after a few well thought out investments, or do you simply think about that flower you saw grow over time in the concrete crack on your walk to work?
for me, the idea of growth is something so much bigger than any of those even though they all have beauty in their own ways.. to me, growth is a seed.. a seed who never sees sunlight because its to busy being well.. buried. but overtime, that seed opens a little after some rain, & more rain comes, & eventually that seed pops out of the ground, sees sunlight for the first time, & is a pretty lil flower..
in other words, you are that seed. life buried you with all of your worries & struggles (family problems, bills, drug use, abuse, feeling stuck, etc.) & you never seem to see the positive (the sunshine) because you're too busy focusing on how to get through all of these negatives & then next thing you know, it's another rainy day.. your dog dies.. & after that the worst thunderstorm.. your house is being foreclosed. it's almost like it seems like with every inch you start to grow, it's like there's a little worm biting off two inches at the roots... but finally.. after all the rain you've been through, you see the light for the first time. You get a new job offer, you talk out your families issues, you go to therapy & get the help you've been needing, & you actually stick with it. a year passes by & those issues are now irrelevant & just bittersweet memories you get to look back on because that struggle is what made you the person you are today & there's nothing in the world you would ever go back & change, because where would you be, if you never saw the rain?
